Tucson police are actively investigating a deadly traffic accident after a man fell off of a moving vehicle.

TPD says the incident happened on October 2 and it was first reported to the Pima County Sheriff's Department on October 6 when an adult man involved in the incident passed away from his injuries at Banner University Medical Center.

It was originally reported that the man had been involved in a single-vehicle collision on Mount Lemmon.

TPD says as deputies began interviewing friends and witnesses, they learned that the incident had taken place in the Rita Ranch area.

Police say their initial investigation reveals that the man was standing on top of a vehicle while it was being driven by a friend.

The man fell off the vehicle while in motion which resulted in serious injuries.

Police say friends of the victim drove him to Northwest Emergency Center in Rita Ranch, where he was then transported to Banner UMC for further treatment.

Traffic investigators from TPD are still investigating. The exact location of the incident is still uncertain.

Police say no citations have been issued at this time.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Tyler Lee Gow.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call 88-CRIME.
