TUCSON, Ariz.- Retirement can be a sigh of relief for some humans but the same can't always be said for K-9's.
In fact, one local non-profit group called 'AZ K-9 Heroes' says many retired K-9's no longer have health care coverage once they've made their exit from the workforce.
The organization says they raise money through public events or donations made by individuals.
'AZ K-9 Heroes' founder Barbara Bridges says all proceeds raised go toward purchasing premiums for former K-9 officers.
According to their Facebook page, the group provides funds for K-9 police departments in Tucson, Sierra Vista, and Phoenix.
