It's 'National Night Out'! How you can meet PCSD deputies

TUCSON, Ariz. — It's 'National Night Out' !

It's an annual event held across the country on the first Tuesday of August. The goal is to give the community the chance to meet the law enforcement officials that patrol their neighborhoods.

Millions of people participate and this will be the first year the Pima County Sheriff's Department is included. A number of the PCSD units will be out, including the bomb squad, therapy canine Deputy Leo and McGruff the Crime Dog.

Deputies say they want you to feel comfortable around them and have positive interactions with deputies. A spokesperson for PCSD says they want to build strong relationships with the community and hopefully events like this will help.

Here is where you can find PCSD on Tuesday:

PCSD Green Valley district offices, 601 N. La Canada Dr., 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

  • Sheriff Deputies, Auxiliary Volunteers and the Geen Valley Fire Department will be on site.

Baskin Robbins, 7555 N. La Cholla Blvd., 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Attendees can share a scoop of ice cream with PCSD's Bomb Squad and Therapy Canine Deputy Leo.

PCSD office, 8999 E. Tanque Verde Road, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Sheriff's Deputies, McGruff the Crime Dog, and Biko the Narcotics Canine will be in attendance.

Baskin Robbins, 1655 W. Valencia Road, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Grab a treat and joing PCSD and TPD's Motorcycle Unit for a night of family fun.
