TUCSON, Ariz. - It's no surprise it's getting hotter and hotter, and while many of us can go inside and enjoy our air conditioner, that's not the case outside.

If you're planning on spending some time outdoors, whether that be out camping, by the lake or even on your porch, making a makeshift air conditioner could be the way to go.

Here's what you will need:

  • Styrofoam cooler
  • USB powered fan
  • 2 Dryer vents
  • Marker
  • Scissors or box cutter
  • Tape
  • Ice or frozen water bottles

Using the marker, trace three circles on the Styrofoam cooler's lid. One will be for the fan, so make sure to make it big enough. Two of the circles will be to stick the dryer vents in on the lid. Once you trace the circles, use either a pair of scissors or box cutter to cut out the circles.

Once you have three holes in the lid, place the lid on the cooler. Fit the dryer vents and fan into the holes. Once assembled, you can secure the fan and vents on the lid with tape.

You can either have the makeshift A/C blow air with nothing in the cooler or add frozen water bottles or ice inside. Before use, make sure to tape the lid to keep the lid secure and from cool air escaping.
