Hotel Congress celebrates history with burial of time capsule

TUCSON, Ariz. — Hotel Congress has joined Arizona Public Media, Rialto Theatre, and Tucson Symphony Orchestra for 'Century of Tucson' to celebrate the history and anniversary of each business.

The event is from noon until 4 p.m. and activities will be held at Hotel Congress, Rialto Theatre, and Maynards Market & Kitchen.

The history of each establishment:

  • Arizona Public Media started 60 years ago as Arizona's first public television station.
  • Tucson Symphony Orchestra began 90 years ago with the first performance held at Tucson High School.
  • Rialto Theatre will celebrate 100 years of performances in 2020.
  • Hotel Congress was developed 101 years ago and to end a year long celebration there will be a burial of a time capsule to be opened in another 100 years.

The event is free and open to the public.
