TUCSON, Ariz. — Homicide survivors celebrated the holidays with families who have lost a loved one to homicide in Pima County on Thursday.

Every December, Homicide Survivors, Inc., coordinates with The Pima County Attorney's Office, community members and families of homicide victims to provide Christmas presents to children who have lost a parent, guardian or loved one to murder.

The group says it can be difficult to celebrate the holidays while grieving the death of a loved one.

"The children get presents, this is the first year without a loved one," said Stephania O'Neill, who is on the Board of Directors. "It's very important that they know people love them and they're not alone. All of these children have experienced the same thing."
