Flake says he won't run in 2020; joins CBS News as contributor

TUCSON, Ariz. — A former Arizona senator is making his plans for 2020 more clear.

In an appearance on CBS This Morning Tuesday, Republican Jeff Flake announced his new role for CBS News as a contributor, and confirmed he wouldn't run for president next year.

Flake will reportedly focus on a new series called "Common Ground."

Flake had previously mulled mounting a 2020 bid to beat President Trump in the Republican primary, but confirmed in his CBS This Morning interview that he'd abandonned those plans.
