This Sunday will mark the first annual VegFest Tucson presented by FoodInRoot, a local event management organization.

The event is centered around the themes of plant-based and vegan foods and the benefits of the lifestyle.

There will be a number of vegan foods available for purchase as well as vegan exhibitors who will be educating event-goers on the benefits of supporting plant-based businesses and initiatives.

The festival will also feature renowned guest speakers Robert Cheeke, Katie Cantrell, Emily Barwick, Mark Devries and local health advocate Haile Thomas. There will also be four local chefs providing demonstrations on different plant-based recipes.

The event is open to all ages and will feature face-painting, musical entertainment and nutritious food samples. Adult tickets at the door are $10 per person, student tickets cost $8 and children under 12 are admitted free.

Ten percent of the ticket proceeds will go to City High School in downtown Tucson.

VegFest Tucson takes place at The Whistle Stop Depot located at 127 West 5th Street on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
