PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix residents are buzzing the morning after a fireball was spotted during the night.

One of the city's own cameras with a view from the top of City Hall captured what appears to be a meteor falling across the sky Tuesday.

The illuminating streak occurred around 8:30 p.m.

The city shared the video on its Twitter account.

Others who witnessed it chimed in on social media. Some shared their own videos.

Laurence Garvie, a curator for Arizona State University's Center for Meteorite Studies, told the Arizona Republic that it was most likely a bolide, a meteor that explodes in a bright flash.

He says it is not related to the annual Leonids meteor shower, set to peak this Friday.
