The U.S. Department of Interior is sending officers to the southern border, although it's unclear how many will be in Arizona.

The federal agency that oversees federal lands and Indian affairs is says it's sending 22 law enforcement officers to Arizona and Texas but won't say how many will be in each state or where on the border they'll be. The department manages 40 percent of land on the southern border.

The Arizona National Guard began deploying over 330 troops to the Arizona-Mexico border last month to assist the Border Patrol.

President Donald Trump wants to send up to 4,000 National Guard members to the border to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

In Arizona, guard members will work on aerial surveillance, camera operation and road repair.
