Part of the eastbound Loop 202 freeway in Mesa is expected to remain closed through the Friday morning commute because of a fatal two-vehicle crash involving a car and an SUV.
Trooper Kameron Lee of the state Department of Public Safety says the SUV rolled and that its male driver was fatally injured.
Lee says the woman driving the car has non-life threatening injuries and that detectives are investigating whether she was impaired.
Westbound lanes remain open.
The state Department of Transportation recommends the U.S. 60 freeway as an alternate route for eastbound traffic.
