Criminal case against former UA college dean dropped

Posted

The Maricopa County Attorney says they dropped the criminal case against a former University of Arizona College Dean after information surfaced in a civil case between Jesse Bootman and the alleged victim.

Bootman was facing charges of sexual assault and kidnapping after a former acquaintance claimed he drugged her at his home.

The attorney says the relationship, prior to the victim's accusations, challenged their ability to prove he was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case was dismissed without prejudice, meaning the prosecutors in this case can choose to re-file the suit in the future with the same charges.

Pima County court officials tell us the alleged victim is continuing with a civil suit against Bootman.
