The Tucson City Council will be voting to bring in a multi-dimensional project, Speedway Campbell Gateway

The project is set to be 20 stories tall and will be built on the property of the Palm Shadows Apartments on Speedway and Campbell.

Richard Shenkarow, part owner of the property is hopeful the council will vote on it. "It is important to have an iconic building that's sustainable."

The project will have retail on the bottom floor, office and clinical space. As well as, condos or apartments and the possibility of a hotel.

Tucson SunTran Streetcar runs along the existing property.

Shenkarow says, a grocery store will be put in as well which will have easy access to the streetcar. "Everything comes right here, that's one of the most important things on this project - all the systems - at least 6 bus routes come right here and there's the light rail system."

Another reason for this space it for Tucson to become a place where people want to live and stay.

"We lose an enormous amount of young people that come from the University. It's very important to build something that will help Tucson raise itself up."

Shenkarow says the development will help University, City, citizenry and create a strong employment base.

The Tucson City council will vote on Tuesday night at 5:30 P.M.
