Officials in Cochise County are monitoring a fire in the Chiricahua Mountains Sunday evening.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, the fire is covering an area of about 15 acres near the town of Portal, Arizona. Crews are calling it the "Rock House Fire," due to its proximity to Rock House Road.
So far, only a hiking group and a research center were evacuated from the area as a precaution. Deputies say crews have stopped the fire's forward progress.
The sheriff's office, U.S. Forest Service and Douglas Fire Department assisted in fighting the fire.
