Bowie Fire caused by lightning burning near Diamond Mountain

The Bowie Fire is burning 13 miles southeast of Bowie and was caused by lightning. 

According to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, the fire has burned 3,036 acres and is 90 percent contained. 

There is 302 personnel battling the fire. The fire is burning through tall grass and brush.

Evacuations of Diamond Mountain Retreat off Old Fort Bowie Road have been lifted.

Aggressive initial attack from local resources and information sharing from local residents helped our team to quickly attain a level of containment manageable at the local level, stated Incident Commander Alan Sinclair.
