PHOENIX (AP) - U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake says Donald Trump's choice of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate "adds a great deal to the ticket."
The Arizona Republican has been openly critical of Trump for months, saying his statements on immigration, trade and Muslims raise huge issues that have kept him from backing the presumptive GOP nominee.
But Flake tweeted Friday that there is nobody in politics he respects more than Pence and called him "a valued friend and a good man."
Flake spokesman Jason Samuels said he hasn't changed his mind about skipping next week's Republican convention and he still has concerns about Trump.
Samuels said Flake was traveling with his family and not available to expand on his Twitter comments.
