PHOENIX (AP) - State health officials say a patient from the state mental hospital in Phoenix is at large.
The Department of Health Services says the patient remained missing Thursday after leaving an unspecified off-site treatment activity and removed his or her GPS tracking device on Wednesday.
The department says hospital staff notified Phoenix police to help arrange the patient's safe return but says the patient is "considered to be a low risk for potential harm to others."
The department said the person is part of a program in which patients are placed at the hospital under a court order in a criminal case.
No description of the person was released, and department spokeswoman Holly Ward says she can't release any information about the patient's identity.
