Arizona is sending about 150 firefighters and more than 40 fire engines to aid California in its fight against major wildfires.
The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management told media that the equipment and personnel will be handling tasks that vary from fire suppression, staging fire starts for high winds and backfilling for local California fire departments. Some of the firefighters and engines are already in route and assigned to the Southern California Wildfire.
Firefighters are being pulled from all over the state, even in rural areas. Major cities sending crews are Phoenix, Tucson, Nogales, Sedona, Glendale and Peoria.
