The 5th annual event to remember fallen border patrol agents is this weekend at Reid Park Demeester Outdoor Performance Center.

The 5K  race remembers fallen agents. People of all ages are invited to participate in the run, walk or ruck.

That's when you carry a 38-pound backpack to get a sense of what the agents have to carry when they're geared up.

The event is organized by border patrol wives with proceeds helping the Tucson sector families in need.

This year will be a little different as some will be awarded scholarships.

"We are giving away a $3,000, $2,000 and a $1,000 dollar scholarship," said Holly Schadt, the executive director of BP101Fund.

"We'll issue an award for a Border Patrol spouse for some sort of higher education. That can mean anything that leads to a career," said Kelley Meshirer, president of BP101Fund.

The event is Saturday, February 25th. It starts at 8am.
