TUCSON, Ariz. - The AMR Southern Arizona ambulance service is training their first therapy dog.

The therapy dog, Zona, is five months old and is a Golden Doodle.

Zona was brought in from Amarillo, Texas after two therapy dogs in the Texas branch of AMR had puppies.

Zona's primary handler, Jackie Evans, who works with AMR said once Zona is certified she'll work directly with AMR crew members.

"Everyday we're responding to people that are having the worst day of their life so our crew they basically see people on the lowest points of their life," said Evans.

Zona has been with AMR Southern Arizona for a short time but she's already had a huge impact on staff.

"The faces light up of the crews. When she walks into the crew room in the morning when we get here all the crews are just like 'Zona, Zona, Zona' you know trying to get her to come to them and she just loves it," said Evans.
