More than 6,000 American flags were placed on the graves of fallen veterans at Evergreen Cemetery Park Saturday morning.
Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, members of American Legion Post 7, and volunteers from the Tucson community came together to participate in this Memorial Day weekend event that has been going on in Tucson for 34 years.
Tim Doré, with American Legion Post 7, said he hopes that when people are having their barbecues this weekend, they take a couple minutes to remember what the day is really about.
"It's about the people that died so other people could be free," Doré said.
