TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The agency in charge of keeping Arizona's roads safe is also working to keep your identity safe.
The Arizona Department of Transportation is using facial recognition technology to scan driver's licenses.
Once a photo is in ADOT's database, it's scanned to make sure there's no one trying to steal your identity.
The MVD clerks are the first line of defense in cracking down on identity theft.
They are trained to look for discrepancies in driver's license applications.
ADOT says the facial recognition technology has helped them catch dozens of identity thieves this year.
