ADOT warns about tire treads on highways as temperature heat up

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning drivers about "gators" on the highways as temperatures heat up.

A "gator" is the nickname for tire treads that wind up on highways after blowouts.

Officials are reminding drivers to stay alert to tire treads and other debris on the road.

Make sure to check your tire pressure, especially with the triple-digit temperatures, to lower the chance of your tire blowing on the highway.
