TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A car crashed into the Prayerfully Popped Popcorn and Fudge store on the corner of Speedway and Wilmot Friday, according to Tucson police.
Sgt. Kimberly Bay said the 83-year-old driver mistook the gas pedal for the brake and accidentally smashed through the front of the building.
The man was checked at the scene for injuries but refused treatment.
One employee was inside the store at the time of the accident. The car narrowly missed hitting her.
"(She) was about a foot to two feet to the left of the car and she had just turned her back and walked to the middle part of the store when the car came through," said store owner Pat Sniezek.
Sniezek said he is so thankful no one was injured. He is unsure of when the store will re-open.
The Speedway and Wilmot store is their only location and that is where they make their products as well.
