PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix fire officials say a 9-month-old boy has died after drowning in a bucket of water.
Fire Capt. Larry Subervi says firefighters responded Saturday to an apartment near 26th Avenue and Claremont, where the child was found face down in a bucket.
The infant had no pulse and was not breathing.
Firefighters immediately transported the boy to Phoenix Children's Hospital.
Subervi says hospital staff administered critical care for at least 20 minutes but he was pronounced dead.
Subervi says firefighters have no idea how long the infant had been submerged.
Phoenix police spokesman James Holmes says the boy's mother and a sibling were in the home at the time.
Police are still trying to determine how the boy ended up in the bucket.
The incident remains under investigation.
