A 12-year-old boy was arrested Monday on felony sexual abuse charges.

According to Sgt.Pete Dugan of the Tucson Police Department, the boy was charged with one count sexual abuse, which is a class three felony.

This stems from an incident where the boy made sexual contact with a girl classmate at school. Following this incident, a teacher reported it to the vice principal and the counselor, but neither reported it to police as required by law.

The vice principal, 45-year-old Bernadette Rosthenhausler and the school counselor, 60-year-old Linda Archuleta, are facing class 6 felony charges for failure to report a reportable offense.
