UPDATE: Driver who died after crashing into beauty school on Speedway identified

Tucson Police say the crash has killed at least one person, with more details expected in the next few days

UPDATE (3 p.m. Dec. 22):

Tucson Police Department has identified the victim of Sunday's car crash as 23-year-old David Gabriel Castro.

According to a news release sent out by Tucson Police, Castro was traveling southbound on North Country Club Road in a Honda Accord at about 6:30 a.m., when he lost control of his vehicle.

The Honda struck the curb on the southwest corner of Country Club and Speedway, vaulting into the business located on the corner. It is unknown why Castro lost control of his vehicle. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time and was driving well above the 35-mile-per-hour speed limit.

He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.

At least one person is dead following a car crash Sunday morning on Speedway Blvd., according to Tucson Police.

The car ran right into the Empire Beauty School building, jumping the curb and leaving significant damage.

TPD says they will release more information over the next few days.
