When we think of movies, we think of the theater. But, who wants to be stuck inside during the summer months? In Tucson, you can enjoy fun flicks with the family, while also being outdoors.

Every first Friday of the month is Movies in the Park. Located at Reid Park, this summer series features family-friendly movies everyone is sure to love. Additionally, each movie will have special tie-ins, from hula dancers for the movie "Moana" to zoo activities for "Zootopia." This free event starts around 7:45 p.m. or at dusk. Make sure to arrive early, so you can find a seat and partake in a lot of activities.

The schedule for Movies in the Park is as follows:

  • Friday, June 2 - Moana
  • Friday, July 7 - Secret Life of Pets
  • Friday, August 4 - Zootopia
  • Friday, September 1 - Finding Dory

Another option is to cool off at the YMCA for Dive-In Movies. The entire family can watch a kid-friendly film while taking a dip in the pool. Tickets are just $3 for members and $5 for non-members. Families with over four people will pay just $20. YMCA has been doing this event for over 25 years and believed it is all about family and community. Tasha Booth of Ott Family YMCA says, "This is one of those big events that brings the whole community together."

The next dive-in movie is scheduled for Friday, June 16 at 6 p.m. The movie is "Finding Dory."
