Americans drink on St. Patrick’s Day and on, really, any other day of the year. So to make sure you drink safely, The List’s Bradley Hasemeyer had Mark Massimi from “Total Wine & More” debunk some common drinking myths.
1. Drinking Kills Brain Cells
NOT TRUE: But that doesn’t mean it’s good for you. It impairs your ability to recall and reference; the more you drink, the worse that gets.
2. Different Types of Alcohol Affect You Differently
NOT TRUE: You’ve heard people say tequila makes them want to dance and whiskey makes them bold, but it actually isn’t the type of alcohol that affects you – it’s how much you drink.
3. Cold Showers and Hot Coffee Will Sober You Up
NOT TRUE: Coffee will bring up your awareness and a cold shower will make you more alert, but time is the only true hangover remedy.
The next time you’re having a drink or two, keep these myths in mind.
