As we all try to adjust to our new normal, people are finding clever ways to connect without physically being together. On March 29, the Backstreet Boys performed as part of the “iHeart Living Room Concert for America,” a special event hosted by Elton John that aired on Fox and saw musicians performing from their homes.

Because there are five members of the Backstreet Boys, their performance was extra-challenging in the era of social distancing. Although the guys were each in their own house, they managed to harmonize as if they were standing right next to each other on stage!

Check out their awesome rendition of their 1999 hit, “I Want It That Way,” in this clip that Fox posted to YouTube. You’ll notice a few special guests pop into some of the shots as well!

Did you see Kevin Richardson’s sons, Mason and Maxwell, joining the performance and looking absolutely adorable in their Backstreet Boys T-shirts? Nick Carter’s son, Odin, was also featured as his dad crooned by the pool.

The beloved boy band also posted a clip of the performance to their Instagram page, noting that they were “honored that we could be a part of this incredible event”:

A few days earlier, on March 26, the group also posted a throwback performance of the song from a 1999 appearance on MTV’s “Total Request Live”:

“Who remembers this performance of ‘I Want It That Way’ from ‘TRL’ in ’99?” they wrote in the caption. “This is from when we were doing promo for the release of ‘Millennium’…one of the most memorable times of our careers!”

The better question is, who could forget such a glorious moment of ’90s bliss? And if you ask me, the guys still sound just as good in the performance they just released as they did 21 years ago! (Has it really been so long?)

“Our goal from the start was to ‘do good’ at a tough time in the world,” Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said in a statement about the televised event. “Many thanks to everyone involved with the production of this special and everyone who gave generously to the wonderful charities. It is they who support the really important work happening across our communities.”

The concert special helped raise a reported $10 million for COVID-19 relief efforts. It was hosted by Elton John and also featured performances from Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Dave Grohl, Billie Eilish, Sam Smith, Camilla Cabello, Shawn Mendes, H.E.R., Billie Joe Armstrong, Demi Lovato and Tim McGraw.
