TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A three-car crash closed down roads on the northwest side Thursday afternoon.

Northwest Fire units responded to the crash at Dove Mountain Blvd. and Tangerine Road.

Capt. Adam Goldberg said the crash caused one of the vehicles to overturn.  One victim was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by crews within 5 minutes of the first due engine.

All four patients were transported to Banner UMC trauma center. The sole occupant in the overturned SUV has serious but non life-threatening injuries.  The woman in the pick-up truck and two other occupants sustained minor to serious injuries that are not considered life threatening.

All four patients involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, said Goldberg.  He said this was considered a major factor in the reduction of critical injuries and potential fatalities.

Tangerine Road  is closed in both directions from Dove Mountain to Camino De Oeste.  The roadway remains closed for investigations and clean-up with an undetermined timeframe until clear.
