The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is investigating vandalism to a religious shrine that happened Monday afternoon, on State Route 80 near mile post 335.
Deputies found a broken large statue of the Virgin Mary, with the top portion missing, inside a shelter at a pull out just off the highway that is open to the public.
There were also three smaller statues with the heads broken off and removed from the scene.
