Out of thousands of hopefuls who auditioned to get a chance to compete on Wheel of Fortune, one lucky Tucsonan was selected.

Sandy Payton, is a kindergarten teacher at Sewell Elementary School and says it has been a dream for her to be on the show.

"I wanted to do it ever since the 1980's when Chuck Woolery and Susan Safford were on the show and I just used to tell my families 'I am good at this, I can go on the show someday,"' Payton explained.

She says growing up she loved the English language and figuring out word scrambles.

She says since she found out she would be on the show, she prepared by playing hangman and reading player blogs.

Payton made it to the bonus round and won nearly $22,000.
