TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The city of Tucson is hoping to get more people on bicycles with the help of a new grant.
The Arizona Daily Star reports that Tucson is one of 10 cities awarded a sizable grant from PeopleForBikes. The national organization will award the city with up to $150,000 annually.
Other cities awarded the grant include New York and Austin, Texas.
Tucson bike and pedestrian program coordinator Ann Chanecka says a number of improvements are coming to south Tucson in coming years, including bike path expansions, a new bike boulevard along Liberty Avenue and a number of stations for the planned city bike share program.
Chanecka says the grant will build on that established momentum.
