A house fire overnight has displaced a family of six, according to Capt. Barrett Baker, a spokesman for the Tucson Fire Department.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday TFD received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting heavy black smoke and flames from a home in the 2800 block of North Tyndall Avenue.

The owner of the home also called 9-1-1 and said that everyone had made it out of the home safely.

The first TFD unit on scene reported a heavily involved house fire.

Crews pulled a hose line to exterior patio area of the home which was engulfed in flames and started to extinguish the fire from the outside.

Firefighters also used a thermal imaging camera to look inside the home to confirm that everyone had made it out.

Baker said the ladder crew controlled the utilities of the home but did not have to go on the roof for ventilation options because of the location of the fire.

Crews then set up a high powered fan as soon as the fire was under control to assist in evacuating the smoke from the home.

A total of nine units consisting of 23 firefighters responded to the scene and controlled the fire 20 minutes after arriving, Baker said.

No injuries were reported to the firefighters.

Two adult males, an adult female, two female teens, and one male teen were displaced as a result of the fire.

Baker said the adults smelled the smoke and discovered the fire. They immediately woke the three teens and evacuated the home.

Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the family.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Building Safety/Code Enforcement also responded to the scene and determined the home was condemned due to damage.

A dollar estimate on damages has not yet been determined.
