Starting Monday, at-home test company Everlywell will begin shipping at-home collection kits to those experiencing the symptoms of coronavirus.
In a statement Thursday, the company said that consumers interested in the self-test should go to the website (as soon as Monday) where they will be asked to complete a screening questionnaire based on guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Samples will be shipped overnight, with secure digital results becoming available online within 48 hours of the lab receiving the sample. Those who test positive will receive free telehealth consultations with an independent, board-certified physician.
Everlywell says they have an initial supply of 30,000 tests, amounting to a significant increase in total COVID-19 tests that have been processed in the U.S. The test has been in development since last month, after they launched a $1 million incentive to certified labs around the country.
The test will be available for $135 at no profit to Everlywell, and will be covered by participating HSA and FSA providers.
