Tucson police arrest armed robber

Tucson Police responded to a report of an armed robbery early Tuesday morning.

According to TPD, 57-year-old Dennis Tipton entered the Circle K located at 3031 E. 22nd St. and asked for cigarettes. Tipton then pulled out a knife and demanded money from the store clerk.

He was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene. The clerk was not injured.

An officer recognized the description of the man and was able to identify him.

Tipton's white Ford Mustang was spotted by an officer and a traffic stop was conducted.

The officer detained him without incident.

He was arrested for Armed Robbery (A Class 2 Felony) and Aggravated Assault (A Class 4 Felony).

Tipton was booked into Pima County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
