Former Tucson Unified School Districtmiddle school will be getting a makeover.
The Townsend Middle School closed in 2013 and was purchased by Pima Medical Institute for $5.6 million.
President and Ceo, Fred Freedman says the purchase was a way of giving back to the City of Tucson. "It's creating jobs, building a better community and putting our students in a position to earn more than they did when they came to Pima Medical Institute."

The structural integrity of the building will remain but the inside will be a complete remodel.
"When you walk into the campus -- it has a look and a feel of a medical facility. Almost like a hospital feel, "said Freedman.
Taking an educational facility and turning it into adult education.
PMI currently has about 860 students and roughly about 75 faculty and staff with five campuses around town.
All five Tucson locations will be consolidated into one building.
As for the soccer field - it was sold to Summits Development partners to build a mixed use medical office building.
The new facility is expected to be completed December 2018.
