U.S Border Patrol agents in the Yuma sector apprehended 654 immigrants in the last two days who crossed the border illegally, most being family units or unaccompanied juveniles from Guatemala.

The groups are not believed to be associated with the large caravan being monitored in Mexico at this time.

U.S Border Patrol says the groups illegally entered on both sides of the San Luis Port of Entry where there is outdated border wall infrastructure. The groups surrendered themselves to agents on Monday and Tuesday.

Agents also caught 55 Central America immigrants that illegally crossed shallow portions of the Colorado River near Yuma. The group surrendered to agents after walking around vehicle barriers.

U.S Border Patrol Yuma sector says year-to-date apprehensions in the sector are up over 150% compared to this date in Fiscal Year 2018.
