A family of four was able to escape a house fire in Tucson's southside after flames ignited in the bedroom.

Tucson Fire was called to the home near Irvington Rd. and Park Ave. around 11:30 p.m. Monday. It took crews about eight minutes to get the flames under control.

TFD says no one was hurt in the incident and the Red Cross is assisting the family.

Fire crews on scene say this is a 'lucky save' since the home did not have working smoke alarms. TFD reminds everyone that working smoke alarms reduce the chance of someone dying in a house fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
