Kitt Peak National Observatory features one of the largest collection of research telescopes in the world. Major advances in the exploration of the universe occur here every day. Bill Buckingham invites everyone to take a guided tour in the daytime and to reserve a spot in their much sought after night time programs to view the heavens through telescopes. Ever since the Visitor Center was constructed in 1964, Kitt Peak National Observatory has welcomed guests who are interested in learning more about the universe, the telescopes they use, the discoveries made there, as well as the people who host them on their mountain—the Tohono O’odham. Three different night time programs are available based on interest level that put guests closer to the cosmos. The Nightly Observing Program, the Dark Sky Discovery Program, and the Overnight Telescope Observing Program.
