About MaryAnn
MaryAnn Martinez joined KGUN 9 On Your Side in January 2008. She's a general assignments reporter.
MaryAnn comes to Tucson from El Paso, Texas. That's where she worked for two years at the CBS affiliate. While there, MaryAnn led the station's breaking news coverage, even doing six-hour coverage of a recycling factory fire that could be seen from space. Fluent in Spanish, MaryAnn also spear-headed the station's coverage of immigration and border issues. In April 2007, MaryAnn was invited to Mexico City by the Mexican Department of State. She took part in a forum for journalists on immigration. That includes meeting with the Mexican President's press secretary and the head of the Mexican IRS. Only 40 journalists from the United States and Canada are invited to participate.
MaryAnn is a native of El Paso. She lived there her whole life, except for when she lived in Waco, Texas to attend Baylor University. When she's not at work, MaryAnn spends her time following national and international news, as a self-proclaimed news junkie. She also loves Oprah, working out and traveling. She’s been to Europe twice and hopes to visit Spain, the Middle East and South Africa in the future. In the short-term, she's already planning trips to Rocky Point and Mount Lemmon.
