The Sisters of Santa Rita Abbey work near Sonoita and anxiously awaited the news of the new pope and hope that he will help them bring light to a sometimes very dark world. When asked about Pope Francis, Mother Victoria said, "What a momentous day! He is a man of simplicity with a gospel preference for the poor. It is our deepest prayer that he will be a true pastor to the Church and to the world, who will reach out with the love of Christ to all people."
