The Frye Fire is burning 7 miles southwest of Safford.

The fire has grown to 48,443 acres and containment is at 91 percent.

Stage 2 fire restrictions are in effect until rescinded by the Coronado National Forest.

All campgrounds, roadways, and trail systems within the National Forest boundary of the Pinaleño mountain range are closed with the exception of State Highway 266 from the intersection at the eastern Forest boundary to the intersection with the western Forest boundary.

The lightning-caused fire began on June 7.
