Man arrested in death of Mesa smoke shop owner

MESA, Ariz. (AP) - A man has been arrested in connection with the death of the owner of a Mesa smoke shop.
Mesa police announced Monday that 23-year-old Chad Stevens is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder, robbery and burglary.
They say businesses neighboring the smoke shop heard commotion about 1 p.m. Friday and called police.
As police pulled up to the business, they saw a man walking away and witnesses told officers that it was the suspect who came from the shop.
Police say Stevens took off running before he was arrested at a nearby apartment complex.
When officers went into the smoke shop, they found 59-year-old Abdou G. Abdou dead.
Police he's the owner and operator of the business.
Authorities didn't immediately know Monday if Stevens has a lawyer yet.
