Seagal, Arpaio train posse to guard schools

PHOENIX (KGUN9-TV) - Just imagine walking through a school -- hearing gunshots -- kids screaming. America's toughest sheriff Joe Arpaio -- and action movie star Steven Seagal -- simulated that horrific scene Saturday. The two joined forces to train the sheriff's volunteer posse to defend Phoenix area schools against gunmen.
The kids cower under tables, try to escape as teachers beg the bad guys for mercy. In this cafeteria, their only hope is a group of volunteer sheriffs deputies.
The volunteer officers take down the gunmen... and the training scenario is over.
"Y'all are learning now. Cooking with gas."
These volunteer officers are running through drills led by Hollywood actor Steven Seagal and Maricopa County Sheriff's Joe Arpaio.
The sheriff wants his volunteer posse of thousands to be capable of protecting every school they can from another mass-shooting tragedy.
Arpaio wants to act now with his newly trained men, despite objections from those who want to keep more guns away from schools.
The sheriff stands firm behind his plan, and has a warning for anyone thinking of attacking an Arizona school.
"I want everyone to know that were going to be around those schools. If you do something, we're going in to save our kids."
