PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a Chandler man has been arrested on an extreme DUI charge.
Chandler police say 23-year-old by Rolando Padilla was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle at an intersection Sunday.
They say Padilla's vehicle was still running and in drive when officers arrived on the scene.
Witnesses say the vehicle had been at the intersection at least 20 minutes before police got there.
Police say Padilla had slurred speech, blood-shot eyes and smelled heavily of alcohol.
They say he refused to exit the vehicle before being removed by officers.
The Arizona Republic says Padilla registered a blood-alcohol content of .253 percent. That more than three times the legal limit for operating a vehicle in Arizona.
Police didn't immediately know Tuesday if Padilla has a lawyer yet.
