Navajo president names interim chief of staff

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) - The Navajo Nation's executive branch has a new chief of staff.
Isabelle Walker is filling in until a permanent replacement can be found. She'll oversee a staff of about 35 people, which includes division directors.
Navajo President Ben Shelly says Walker's familiarity with the executive branch means she can help propel projects forward.
Walker has been serving as the liaison between Shelly and officials on the western side of the reservation. She had served as the deputy chief of staff during former President Joe Shirley Jr.'s administration.
Walker replaces Sherrick Roanhorse, who resigned last week after holding the chief of staff job since January 2011.
