PHOENIX (AP) - Police in Arizona have charged a man with the murder of a Phoenix College football coach.
The Peoria Police Department says 30-year-old Justin McMahan was arrested Wednesday. He faces charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and armed robbery, stemming from the July 17 shooting of Land Jacobsen.
McMahan was booked into the Maricopa County jail.
The 59-year-old Jacobsen had been the college's head football coach since 2008. He died Tuesday from his injuries in the shooting.
Police spokeswoman Amanda Jacinto says McMahan and Jacobsen had arranged a meeting at Jacobsen's residence where the shooting occurred.
Jacobsen is a former quarterback at Division II Central Oklahoma. He also served as the head football coach at Scottsdale Community College from 1993-1995.
