6 Marine helicopters to train at Tucson base

TUCSON (AP) - A half dozen large Marine Corps helicopters will be flying in and out of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson through next Wednesday.
The Tucson base is hosting six CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters from Marine Heavylift Helicopter Squadron 465 out of the Marine Corps Air Station at Miramar, Calif.
The pilots will be conducting desert mountainous terrain training in southern Arizona.
Davis-Monthan officials say the training will help the pilots prepare for missions overseas.
The Super Stallion is the largest helicopter in the U.S. military.
Authorities say the helicopters can fly 16 tons of cargo 50 miles and back and can lift a 26,000-pound light armored vehicle.
